Our morning and afternoon sessions follow a similar structure beginning with welcoming the children as they arrive at nursery and hang their coat on an individual, personalised peg.
Parents are then asked to sign the children in the register and children can self register by finding their own name card.
The children are free to take part in an activity or choose a toy to play with. Mid morning and mid afternoon we have snack time, where we offer a healthy snack with milk or water. At some point during the session there will be time to play outside and take part in an adult led activity. The session will finish with a story or singing as a group together.
If parents choose, children may bring a packed lunch and stay for lunch time before going home, or continue to stay and play till the end of nursery at 3.45pm.
We like to celebrate children’s and staff members' birthdays by singing happy birthday and sharing a cake at snack time. Parents are asked to provide a cake for their child’s birthday celebration if they wish their child to take part in a celebration.
We have a selection of book bags available for children to choose from which they may take home on loan. The bags contain a well known book and some props to enhance the story. This is a good opportunity to encourage children to enjoy books and share them with family.
At Christmas, children perform a nativity play which parents and relatives are invited to watch. They usually manage to captivate and enthral the audience which is a wonderful seasonal experience for the children, parents and staff alike.
We regularly take the children out for walks in the beautiful countryside which we are fortunate to be surrounded by.
We also plan trips further afield, including to the theatre, seaside environmental outdoor education centres, as well as enjoying picnics on the local cricket field.
